ASC continues to support GAVI for childhood immunisation

If there is something that the current COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted it is the importance of the health system and more specifically, the vaccines.

In this context, it is essential to bear in mind that there are still many children who do not have access to vaccines, who die from diseases that can be prevented.

At ASC we are well aware of this, which is why we annually support the immunisation campaigns sponsored by GAVI, the Alliance for Childhood Immunisation.

Undoubtedly, childhood immunisation is still one of the most important challenges worldwide and even more so, if this is at all possible, in a year that has been blighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, continuing the support for these programmes has become even more necessary than ever before. So the Alliance for Childhood Immunisation, in collaboration with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is indispensable. Ever since it was set up in 2000, Gavi has helped vaccinate more than 822 million children in 77 countries, thus contributing to prevent more than 14 million deaths in the future.

Our contribution will help distribute the pneumococcal vaccine in Mozambique to prevent pneumonia, which is still the leading cause of death for children due to infectious diseases throughout the world today.
